The Use of Canva in teaching Writing Procedure Text at Ninth Grade SMP Muhammadiyuah 2 Karanglewas

This study aims to analyze the use of Canva in teaching procedure text writing to ninth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Karanglewas and to examine students’ perceptions of its implementation. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that Canva was systematically applied in the learning process, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation stages. Students demonstrated increased activeness, enthusiasm, and motivation, particularly in collaborative group work. The final products, in the form of digital posters, not only reflected students’ understanding of procedural text structures (goal, materials, steps) but also the development of 21st-century skills such as creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. Students’ perceptions were largely positive, stating that Canva made writing activities more engaging, enjoyable, and boosted their confidence in presenting results. Technical obstacles, including limited devices and unstable internet connections, were addressed through group collaboration and teacher guidance. Overall, the integration of Canva proved effective in enhancing students’ procedural writing skills as well as their digital literacy.
