<note>This research aims to identify the causes of speaking anxiety experienced by the eighth-grade students of Madrasah Wustho Karangsuci. Speaking is considered one of the most challenging skills in learning English, and many students still feel anxious when they are required to speak in front of the class. Therefore, this study focuses on analyzing three main causes of speaking anxiety: communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation. This study employed a mixed method design, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches to obtain more comprehensive results. The population of this research consisted of all 8th-grade students, and a total of 40 respondents. The instruments used in this study were a questionnaire and interview to support the data findings. The findings of the research show that communication apprehension becomes the highest cause of speaking anxiety with a percentage of 34.75%. The second cause is test anxiety with 34.01%, indicating that many students feel pressured and worried during speaking evaluations. The third cause is fear of negative evaluation, which contributes 31.24%. These findings clearly demonstrate that speaking anxiety is genuinely experienced by students at Madrasah Wustho Karangsuci and significantly affects their speaking performance.</note>
